I’m getting ready to head out to Santa Fe for the 2008 WholeExpo to be held this Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1. I’ve never attended this particular expo, but it looks like it will be an auspicious gathering. I always appreciate the opportunity to share info about holistic parenting. Plus, the positive energy that’s certain to be wafting around always does a body and mind good. It’s been 12 years since I visited lovely Santa Fe. Based on the cool evening breeze blowing in the AZ desert at the moment, some warm clothes might be in order.

Allergies suck. Big time. I finally found some natural remedies that alleviate the itchy eyes, sneezing attacks, and runny, itchy nose. If you’re a fellow sufferer, you might give them a try. Allertonic by Herbs, Etc. contains stinging nettle, licorce root, eyebright, horehound, osha root, horsetail, mullein liefe, elecampen root and plantain leaf, and the label indicates that you can take one softgel capsule every 2 or 3 hours. I combine it with D-Hist by Ortho Molecular Products, which is a blend of vitamin C, quercetin, stinging nettle, bromelain and N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine. At least I can function better.
I also vaccuumed and dusted, an indication of the severity of the symptoms as I tend to indulge in those activites sporadically. But the dust and hair that showed up in the canister make me think I should regularly schedule these housekeeping activities. And I suppose if I’m on the take-care-of-myself track, I should eliminate dairy, wheat and sugar for awhile to see if their absence makes a difference. Then there’s the stress factor. Basically, I think my immune system is imploring me for new habits.
Though there is a fresh apple pie cooling on the counter that E just made, which is out of the ordinary. Runny nose or apple pie? Which will it be? Hmmm, or rather yummmm. Not being into total self-flagellation, I’ll skip the a la mode version and savor a little soul food baked with love.
